An American Painter: Jacob Lawrence.
The paintings of Jacob Lawrence tell stories. Stories of enslavement and
freedom, of human migration and renaissance, of struggle and of
triumph. A collection of these stunning paintings provides the backdrop
for this exceptional biography which tells the story of one of our
finest living painters-from his family's experience in the great
migration North, to his growing up in the midst of the Harlem
Renaissance, to his rise as one of the most renowned painters of African
American life. With over twenty-five full-color reproductions and an
insightful glossary, not only is this an easy-to-read, engaging
biography, it's also an excellent starting point for discussions about
American history. Awards and honors for Story Painter.

"Our Last Summer."
You can enjoy with this song in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKuFi3y-Vds
"Our Last Summer."
Abba lyrics:
The summer air was soft and warm
The feeling right, the Paris night
Did it's best to please us
And strolling down the Elysee
We had a drink in each cafe
And you
You talked of politics, philosophy and I
Smiled like Mona Lisa
We had our chance
It was a fine and true romance
I can still recall our last summer
I still see it all
Walks along the Seine, laughing in the rain
Our last summer
Memories that remain
We made our way along the river
And we sat down in the grass
By the Eiffel tower
I was so happy we had met
It was the age of no regret
Oh yes
Those crazy years, that was the time
Of the flower-power
But underneath we had a fear of flying
Of getting old, a fear of slowly dying
We took the chance
Like we were dancing our last dance
I can still recall our last summer
I still see it all
In the tourist jam, round the Notre Dame
Our last summer
Walking hand in hand
Paris restaurants
Our last summer
Morning croissants
Living for the day, worries far away
Our last summer
We could laugh and play
And now you're working in a bank
The family man, the football fan
And your name is Harry
How dull it seems
Yet you're the hero of my dreams
I can still recall our last summer
I still see it all
Walks along the Seine, laughing in the rain
Our last summer
Memories that remain
I can still recall our last summer
I still see it all
In the tourist jam, round the Notre Dame
Our last summer

We were living for the day, worries far away...

My second day...
Today have been my second day of my fourth year in the E.O.I.. Wow!!
And also, it have been my first day in my first specif English course:
DECCA (Developing English Communicative Competence Through Art).
First of all, the tipical presentation and, after that, I enjoyed speaking and listening the opinions of my new classmates about art in general and about painting in particular. The first paiting that we have been able to see is this: ´Christ in the house of his parents´(The carpenter´s shop).

If you want delve deeper into this subject click here:

I hope learn and enjoy much with this specific course because I want to improve my Spoken English and I love art. I´m feeling gratefully for participating in this course that I wanted to study in it since my first year in the school. As it is said in Spanish: ´Patience pays off´.
Thanks to my life for the good opportunities that it give me.
My first day in a new course!
The first day. A new course. It seems as if the day before yesterday I had been in that same scenario...
The typical presentation, new faces and faces known, the open window, the heat...the fans...
And the teacher proposing a game of presentation and saying us a new and significant expression:
´give a helphing hand´.Beautiful, do you Know?
(That is what has to be a woman who sees poetry everywhere, even in class...)
